Did you watch the Gold Rush yesterday? I caught a few minutes here and there--enough to remind myself why the gold shows are not my favorite. Gold ain't cheap. There's just no way around that fact. You can only make the gold so thin and hollow to try to keep the cost down. I'm fairly certain that there are laws of physics involved in this (much to the Q's dismay).

With few exceptions, the pieces were either too expensive or too thin--anorexic gold is not only not attractive, it doesn't last. Looks like unless or until gold prices go down, I'm not going to be buying much.

Was it just me or did Mary Beth's dress look very uncomfortable last night??? And what's with all the new gold colors? Purple? For real? I have nothing against purple, but I for one would not fork over all that money for real gold that looks fake. I'll just bypass that middle man and buy fake!


The QVC TSV is a KathyVan Zeeland Patent Croco Emb. Convertible Organizer Bag. Normally I love Kathy Van Zeeland purses. They're funky, fun , and fresh. But this one just seems like the same old same old. Not particularly impressed with this one. I still love Kathy though!

The QVC TSV is a Modern Soul NewStretch Shawl Collar Jacket & Wide Leg Pants. I like the idea of this--a comfy pant suit that looks more dressed up than it feels. However, the pants have an elastic waist (no thank you) and the pants also only come in one length. Being vertically challenged, I know this would not work for me. But the worst part is that you have to hand wash and dry flat. Queen Bea doesn't hand wash or dry flat!!!

QVC Clearance Experiment

So QVC is trying something new ... Tomorrow there is a special fashion clearance between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. online only. What makes this different is that there will be online video with hosts presenting all the clearance items while the regular QVC programming is on television. I'm not sure if the online stuff will be live or taped.

Something tells me that this is an experiment. QVC has issues with sales and clearance and avoids marking products down at all costs (they start with the cheapest price--whatever). Having these special online sales looks like a way around the problem.

I wish QVC would just get over themselves and have sales and coupons like everyone else.

I am so tempted by this ... normally priced $129.90, but now it's on clearance for $69.95 (with two flex pays too). And the reviews are through the roof. The one nay-sayer (there's always one, isn't there?) complained that it's too heavy. Umm ... unless you have a medical condition that weakens the neck, that's not a bad thing, lone negative reviewer person.

I added a link on the right-hand bar of the homepage for Coupon Codes. I love, love, love coupon codes!!! I'm going to try to keep an up-to-date list of all the coupon codes for all the home shopping channels (except one ... *cough*qvc*cough* who doesn't believe in them--whatev!).

But I'm going to need your help, chickadees!!! Please, please, please let me know if you find one that doesn't work or if you run across a new one. All you have to do is drop me an email or leave a comment.

I spend alot of time trying to find all these codes and I just can't do it alone. I know you know what it's like ... I love Diamonique. I don't care what anybody says. And this looks like a winner. Small carat weight spread out over four channel-set rows of little brilliant-cut stones equals a very believable and wearable ring.

Queen Bea's finger is hoovering over the "add to cart" button ... that damn ring is just taunting me!

Less than $100 is not a bad price at all for a 14k gold ring. The Q charges that much for Epiphany! (Epiphany is silver coated in platinum for those not in the QVC loop.)

Shirt runs a tad small (fitted would probably be the correct word), so you might want to order up a size. Laura was know for her glamorous evening wear and having lots of children. Since, as we all know, May is gold month, I thought I would try to find some gold on the cheap. With the gold market going through the roof, it costs big bucks just for a tiny, tinny-sounding, thin, weightless sorry excuse for a piece of gold jewelry! So. Not. Worth. It.

Anyway, these studs are basic and, aside from a few problems with the earring backs, got great reviews. Eight millimeters is a great "Goldilocks" size--not too big to be uncomfortable and not so small to not be noticed. I have no idea how heavy they are since no gram weight is provided (this is a rant I will save for another day), but I personally don't mind if earrings are hollow or on the light side since I don't want to have to tuck my earlobes into my collar.
