Is Patti Reilly Dancing with the Stars?
Was just asked to submit a demo reel for DWTS. In shock, WOW!
Yesterday, Patti Reilly allegedly tweeted that she was asked to submit a demo reel for Dancing with the Stars. This tweet heard round the home shopping world caused mass mayhem on both the QVC message boards and Queen Bea's inbox.
But then the tweet in question disappeared. Or, as some would insist, did it ever really exist?
Since I didn't get a screen shot of the original tweet, I had to go in through the back door. Here is a screen shot of all the people responding to Patti:
So either all these people just suddenly decided to respond with their congratulations for no reason whatsoever, or the tweet really happened and Patti went back later to delete it.
Patti can always be counted on to stir the pot, can't she?

Patti Reilly, Home Shopping Lightning Rod

As part of my official blog housekeeping cleanup effort, I'm trying my best to go through all the comments and delete the spam and nastiness.

No Birki's for Patti!

Is that the telltale red sole of a Christian Louboutin shoe I'm seeing ...

First, Lisa R.'s watch and now Patti's shoes ... it seems home shopping hosts have expensive taste.
If you aren't already familiar with Christian Louboutin shoes, check them out here. Be forewarned, there are commas in some of the prices.

Patti is Playing Head Games

First, Patti's leaving ("former QVC host" meta tag controversy), then she's not so sure (vague blog announcements and scattered part-time on-air hours), but then she finally pinky swears that she's absolutely positively officially staying with QVC as a full-time host (the big announcement).
However, nothing with Patti is ever simple. This much I know.
Patti just posted a professionally produced demo reel on You Tube with her contact information included in the video. Why? She's not looking for a job anymore. She's not, right? Right???
I think Patti's just toying with us at this point. She's swirl, tap, buffing my brain!
Watch it for yourself:
Is she just looking for some additional gigs on the side? Wouldn't she do that more subtly through her representation?
Patti better be careful because I do know that QVC is actively looking for new hosts. You can watch all sorts of entertaining audition tapes from hosting hopefuls on You Tube.
However, some of the auditioners are going the more traditional route with professional representation (although some of these places look a little sleazy--I don't want anything those half-nekkid ladies are selling!)
If you think you have what it takes, here's what the Q wants in a new host. It states that they are looking for men or women, but I've heard that they really want a woman. Sorry guys! Although I have to give props to Rick for not only being able to pull off a jewelry show, but he even had to do a Breezies bra presentation recently. Only a real man can sell bras on television!
The starting pay ain't to shabby either ... hey, I'm a woman and I can talk ...

Patti Reilly is Staying!
After all the long and drawn-out drama, Patti announced on her blog today that she will be staying on as a QVC host.Patti wrote that she will be more involved in the beauty and skincare categories, which are her "passion." And she will be starting a beauty blog on the Q's website.
She's also decided to choose to be happy, which she believes is harder than losing weight. Patti really sounds like she's struggling emotionally. I wish her all the best.
Mystery solved, y'all!

Patti Gives a Straight Answer in a Round About Way

Can you believe how different Patti looks??? I usually don't notice people's weight gain or loss until I see an old photo. Although I didn't think that she was that big to begin with. Yes, she was a pear--a fruit that I can definitely relate to--but she looked fine to me. Of course, I live in the deep-fried South. We grow 'em big and healthy around here, so my perspective might be a little skewed.
Anyway, on Patti's most recent blog entry, she tries to directly address the ongoing QVC controversy by looking it straight in the ... ummm ... toes and basically avoids actually saying anything at all.
Here's the quote:
"I've been asked a lot about whether or not I'm leaving QVC, why haven't I been hosting more shows lately, etc… I can't give anyone a straight answer on that. "We'll see" is the best that I can do for now."
As to the rest of the blog entry, she sounds depressed. I'm going to play armchair psychologist here and take a stab at what's going on: in the past, she was able to easily blame her problems on her weight, use her weight as an excuse, and generally hide behind it. Now that she has shed the pounds, she's having to face life without any insulation or excuses. That's just my two cents for what it's worth. Who knows ...
There's also a rumor going around that she was dating someone in upper management at the Q, but that they recently broke up. If that's true, that would certainly explain her mood and the whole leaving/staying/leaving/one-hour-shifts-occasionally thing that's been going on.
Another day, another Patti rumor.
ETA:
An Anonymous tipster emailed me this link, which has the following little tidbit:
"Patti is leaving qvc. She is leaving to get married. His name is John K. Lillin. She met him on a trip to England. Everyone is very glad about her weight loss."

How Did You Find Queen Bea?
Here is a list of the Top Ten Keywords used to find Queen Bea for 2008 ...
10) Kelly Repassy - The redheaded former plus-size model and recently-ousted HSN host.

9) The Jewelry Chanel - This struggling home shopping channel that was going out of business most of the year, only to reinvent itself into The Liquidation Channel.

8) Davinia Palmer - This little British cutie burned bright as a QVC host, but her time was short.

7) Pat James-Demetri (and her ex, Vince) - Poor Pat has had a rough year thanks to her no-good ex-husband, Vince.

6) Paul Deasy - Another former HSN and QVC host who, along with his wife, Judy Crowell, is trying to make a return to the home shopping arena in a new way.

5) Me! - Some of you got here by actually looking for Queen Bea on purpose ... golf claps ...

4) Bob Bowersox - After 22 years with the Q, Bob was shown the door right before Christmas and made a huge leap into the top five. (The crazy looking picture is from the set of a movie he was in. I just thought it was funny!)

3) Patti Reilly - Patti, Patti, Patti ... she's leaving! she's not! she's leaving! she's not! I swear, the speculation will never end. In the very least, she has certainly dropped to part-time. I still say she's leaving.

2) Models Prefer and its founder, Stacey Schieffelin - Stacy was in the middle of a nasty lawsuit with QVC that led to a complete reinvention of the Models Prefer brand into ybf and a switch to HSN (all while keeping that famous eyebrow pencil and patented hair roller makeup-less face shtick in tact)

And number 1 for 2008 is ... drum roll please ...
1) Dave King!!!
Here today, gone tomorrow. This well-loved host just disappeared without a word from QVC--not even a Bob Bowersox-style hostage video. I guess they just figured no one would notice??? In any case, he had many fans who missed him and didn't appreciate the treatment he got.
Here's a great video of Dave, great host and an all-around stand up kind of guy:
You can also check him out in his new job as a consumer electronics expert here.

Patti Reilly is Leaving!

Unless you've been locked inside a Lori Greiner Silver Safekeeper jewelry box for that last month or so, you've heard the rumor that Patti Reilly will be leaving QVC soon.
Have you seen her new website? Check it out here. It's extremely professional and well thought out ... but there's one little thing that they let slip through the cracks.
If you "View Source" on the Enter Site page, guess what shows up???
Some very interesting Meta Tags!!!

Davinia Gone!
A short few months after being promoted to host, Davinia Palmer is gone. Her profile is no longer listed on the QVC host page (although you can still get to it here). You see, this is how it works ... I'm hot on the trail of the Patti Reilly leaving story and Davinia up and leaves (or whatever happened!) Ugh! It's like a crazy home shopping slight of hand trick.
She's got an awesome website. Check it out!

A Rumor with a "View"

So, the rumor is that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be doing some sort of Dialogue fashion line for QVC this Spring. And--just like with Rosie--feathers are ruffled! How dare she bring a fashion line! Who does she think she is, anyway? She's an idiot! I hate listening to her on The View!
Whatever.
Just like I said with Rosie, people need to get over themselves.
I will say that "The View" is doing themselves a huge disservice by not having a right-leaning/conservative/Republican woman on the panel who can can actually articulate her perspective coherently. I know I prefer to hear an intelligent--even heated--discussion of the issues from different perspectives. I don't like to hear someone scream talking points and cry when asked for any facts or evidence to back them up.
But this has nothing to do with whether or not Elisabeth can put together a fashion line of some sort. I look forward to seeing what she does.

And as for the other rampant rumor that people keep emailing me about: No, I do not know if Patti is really leaving at the end of the month or not.
I promise, as soon as I know anything that I will let you know!!!
