Gabby's Big Fat Greek Weding

QVC host Gabrielle Kerr, formerly Gabrielle Abiera, got hitched September 27th, 2008. And former QVC host Davinia Palmer recently posted a short video from the big day:

She also posted some behind-the-scenes footage from one of Gabrielle's photo shoots here. You can also check her out in her old job doing the traffic reports in Baltimore on Fox 45 morning news here.

Gabrielle has a cute wedding website where you can take a quick quiz about the happy couple--who like to call themselves Gabby and Juddy, check out the wedding party (Gabrielle's sister looks just like her!), leave a message in the online guest book, and find out what they are registered for.

Sadly, Gabby didn't register at the Q. She's more of a Crate and Barrel and Macy's kind of a girl. Although she did register for a Kitchen Aid blender and a Rowenta iron. That has to count for something!

Be sure to scroll through all the wedding pictures at the wedding photographers website (they aren't posted on her site yet). Just click on "Full Weddings" on the left hand side and then click on "Gabrielle and Judson." When I said this was a "big fat Greek wedding" I wasn't kidding. I can't even imagine how much money they spent on it--Wow!!! Very Madison Avenue!

How Did You Find Queen Bea?

People stumble across this silly little blog in all different kinds of ways, but there seems to be a bit of a trend. See if you notice anything.

Here is a list of the Top Ten Keywords used to find Queen Bea for 2008 ...

10) Kelly Repassy - The redheaded former plus-size model and recently-ousted HSN host.

9) The Jewelry Chanel - This struggling home shopping channel that was going out of business most of the year, only to reinvent itself into The Liquidation Channel.

8) Davinia Palmer - This little British cutie burned bright as a QVC host, but her time was short.

7) Pat James-Demetri (and her ex, Vince) - Poor Pat has had a rough year thanks to her no-good ex-husband, Vince.

6) Paul Deasy - Another former HSN and QVC host who, along with his wife, Judy Crowell, is trying to make a return to the home shopping arena in a new way.

5) Me! - Some of you got here by actually looking for Queen Bea on purpose ... golf claps ...

4) Bob Bowersox - After 22 years with the Q, Bob was shown the door right before Christmas and made a huge leap into the top five. (The crazy looking picture is from the set of a movie he was in. I just thought it was funny!)

3) Patti Reilly - Patti, Patti, Patti ... she's leaving! she's not! she's leaving! she's not! I swear, the speculation will never end. In the very least, she has certainly dropped to part-time. I still say she's leaving.

2) Models Prefer and its founder, Stacey Schieffelin - Stacy was in the middle of a nasty lawsuit with QVC that led to a complete reinvention of the Models Prefer brand into ybf and a switch to HSN (all while keeping that famous eyebrow pencil and patented hair roller makeup-less face shtick in tact)

And number 1 for 2008 is ... drum roll please ...

1) Dave King!!!

Here today, gone tomorrow. This well-loved host just disappeared without a word from QVC--not even a Bob Bowersox-style hostage video. I guess they just figured no one would notice??? In any case, he had many fans who missed him and didn't appreciate the treatment he got.

Here's a great video of Dave, great host and an all-around stand up kind of guy:

You can also check him out in his new job as a consumer electronics expert here.

Getaway with Davinia

Former QVC host, Miss Davinia Palmer (wouldn't that be a great drag queen name?), has been spotted on the longest-running Australian reality travel show, Getaway. Here's some behind-the-scenes footage:

Go Davinia!

Davinia Gone!

A short few months after being promoted to host, Davinia Palmer is gone. Her profile is no longer listed on the QVC host page (although you can still get to it here).

You see, this is how it works ... I'm hot on the trail of the Patti Reilly leaving story and Davinia up and leaves (or whatever happened!) Ugh! It's like a crazy home shopping slight of hand trick.

She's got an awesome website. Check it out!

Shopping Around

  • Jessica Alba spoofs home shopping in support of a Declare Yourself, "a national nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign to empower and encourage every eligible 18-year-old in America to register and vote in the presidential primaries and 2008 presidential election." Check out the video of Jessica selling muzzle masks here. Even if you don't, please make sure that you are registered to vote!

  • Anthony Heywood from QVC UK talks about his visit across the pond, lunch with Davania, and Jeanne Bice forcing him to make an appearance on camera. They like to call it Qgossip.

  • Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media (which owns all of QVC and part of HSN--I think--this might have changed since HSN broke off from its parent company), talks about how the economy and the bailout will affect their business. Read the Rocky Mountain News interview here.

  • I can not look at this due to being in a twelve step program for scrapper addicts, but feel free to check out a preview of new scrapping stuff from Laura at Glitz Designs here and here. She'll be on HSN on 10/8/08.

  • JTV is trying to pull themselves out of the cheese and evolve into a real home shopping network--the economy and lawsuits are just slowing them down a bit. However, starting October 15th, Jewelry Television will be launching in high definition (HD) in a brand new studio with brand spankin' new graphics. (Just one minor problem--they don't have any distribution deals yet for the HD, but they are working on that.) Read the article here.

  • Here is another article on JTV, which I do not understand. It seems to be written in code. Are they talking about fake online reviews and articles? I can't tell, but it sounds shady.
