Dave King Rumor Mill Madness

There has been alot of interest in Dave King on the blog lately. I still, sadly, don't know exactly what happened to him, but I thought I would put together all of the gossip swirling around the Internet. Keep in mind, these are rumors, chickadees, not facts!

1) Dave was fired for insisting on day shifts after working late night/early morning shift for 13 years.

2) Dave was fired for low sales.

3) Dave was fired to scare all the other employees into submission.

4) Dave was fired, but even he has no idea why.

5) Dave was fired because of his relationship with either another host or a vendor.

6) Dave was fired because QVC is discriminatory. This particular rumor is based on a 1999 discrimination class-action lawsuit filed against QVC by former minority hosts, SAG, and ARTRA. You can read about it here.

7) Dave was fired because QVC is trying to weed out the older hosts and replace them with younger hosts. Why? The young hosts are cheaper and appeal to the younger demographic that the Q is trying so desperately to appeal to (obviously the way to do that is buy selling elastic-waist pants and old-lady sandals!).

8) Dave King is sick.

What we do know:

1) Dave gave no indication on his last shift on QVC that it was, in fact, his last shift on QVC.

2) QVC has not publicly commented on the situation (not even the generic, "he left to pursue other opportunities" line), nor did he get any kind of on-air going away party.

There is another rumor floating about that people tried to ask QVC President/CEO/King Mike George what happened to Dave on the Live Chat the other day, but that the question was never posted or answered.

When it comes to corporate America, anything can be true. I just hope that the truth comes out and I hope that Dave is doing well. I promise to let you know as soon as I know anything!

  2. Everyone just needs to shut up! No one knows except Dave and he's not talking. Just leave well enough alone!!!!

  3. anonymous --- we talk about him b/c we care what happened to him! Imagine him leaving and no one saying a word? That would be sad.

  4. I'm going with option 2--it's all about the bottom line with the home shopping networks.

  5. Hello...just thought you might like to know..Dave King is on Facebook..listed as David L. King of Philadelphia...lots of others listed there too..Paul Deasy, Judy Crowell, Rich Hollenberg, Kelly Repassy, Alyce Caron...and many, many more.

  6. What happened to the British speaking female host on QVC? She worked late nights. Davinia???

  7. Davinia "left to pursue other interests." She got canned.

  8. Dave King is now a spokesperson for Boomer-Living.com among many other ventures.

Check out his work on http://www.boomer-living.com/

  9. I heard he's going to another network

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, he's starting with ShopNBC very soon, he's in their host line-up

    ReplyDelete
  11. ShopNBC is filling it's offices with former QVC execs., it's studios with former QVC hosts, pretty soon it's graphics and on-air image will start to resemble the "Q".

    1. well, it can only improve! i watched shopnbc for a few minutes here and there and did see dave king and that was great! the show is very low quality though and looks so cheap. i haven't watched since. also, i couldn't believe suzanne somers was there! she and colleen lopez were best friends and everyone loved her on hsn. what went wrong??

      Delete
    2. also it's "its" not "it's" to the anonymous person above. shopnbc is filling its offices...etc...

  12. I saw Dave King selling steak on Shop NBC, July 9, 2009. His boss is Paul Kelly who came from QVC many years ago. Dave looked real good. At the end of his show Dave still signs off saying, "peace I'm out of here."

  13. Dave is on ShopNBC right now. Selling sterling silver and diamond jewelry.

    ReplyDelete
  14. why would qvc get rid of anyone before Jane Rudolph Tracy? She talks all the time...jumps in the middle of everyhting the guests are trying to get across and just loves the sound of her own voice. I have to mute my TV if she is hosting something I want to watch. The best hosts let the guest talk about their product and their passion.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I too found Dave on ShopNBC! Glad to see him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Paul Deasy is now at ShopNBC. He was co hosting an overnight show with Dave and Paul said his wife Judy Crowell would be appearing on ShopNBC soon but was not allowed yet to give any date.

  17. I was so happy to see Dave King land on his feet. My neice graduated in May with her Masters from a school in NYC and I say Dave on the local morning news as "Dave King The Gadget Guy". I felt he did a great job but I knew he was better than a 5 minute segment and his talent was being wasted. Then in July I saw him doing Shop NBC's "Christmas in July" show and I was thrilled to see him bach at what he was great at. You go Dave!

  18. Personally, I'm a bit tired of seeing former QVC hosts at other networks. Makes you wonder what 'scouting' networks are out to nab them. But, it's only a job ... it's just "public". I enjoyed Dave King as a host. He is a classy, well-spoken guy whom I trusted and brought a touch of class to the network. I get irked when I watch many of the other hosts who seem like "flakes" and/or talk too much about themselves (esp. when it comes to what "they" own!! Sorry, that's a HUGE turnoff.) I used to just enjoy watching, which led to me buying. Best wishes to Dave and his career. I'll be more than happy to follow him elsewhere.

  19. Patti never left! Unfortunately, I have noticed her on-air personality change. Just hope she can find her true self.

Yeah, there's too many inflated heads. These are just sales people turned tv personalities. This is their chosen career. I was sorry to see many of the dignified, classier hosts leave. I used to watch for information, not to have a product shoved down my throat by some babbling host. Yes, the economy is bad ... makes me more cautious of who gets my money. Please refrain from the Billy Mays sales pitches no matter how pretty your face.

BTW, what's the deal with CG? She brags on air about all of her purchases ... I don't want to hear about her shopping binges. Sorry, a major turnoff.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It seems apparent that ShopNBC is doing a major revamp. My question...why are we, the viewers, supposed to stick around with watches 18 hours a day and strange tacky crap the the other 6? I used to spend around 10K a year with this channel...in the past several months I have spent about $200 - and that for skin care I was worried I wouldn't be able to get if they closed shop. And what the heck happened to pam and Wes. i understand the network isn't going to say they fired them, but a little neutel info would be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dave is living in L.A. He is a true entrepreneur. He has acting gigs and is commuting to ShopNBC to work there. Dave is involved in other business ventures, some with his brother. He also spends time working with various charities, including juvenile diabetes.

Dave & QVC had a sudden parting of ways when Dave appeared in an upcoming movie which QVC did not want him to do. Enough said.

Dave is a 'can do' kind of guy who is gifted and will always come out on top! Love you man!

  22. what the crap does lisa have on her head.didn't she look in the mirror.

    ReplyDelete
  23. wish dave the best, and thanks for sharing what he's up to.

think i saw lisa trying to promote hair extentions. she seemed pleased with herself, & blah, blah, blah how she loved them... why had her friends not shared this 'secret'. she did look ridiculous. tacky, tacky, tacky.

  24. LISA IS A DIP SHIT .SHE NEEDS A MAN OR DOES SHE HAVE ONE .ALL SHE TALKS ABOUT IS MONEY AND RICH PEOPLE .AND 50CENTS A DAY SHE IS CONSTENLY LOOKING IN THE CARAMA I CAN'T STAND HER .QVC NEEDS TO GET NEW HOSTES .THEY SHOULD SHOW HER THE DOOR .THEN KICK HER FAT ASS OUT

  27. I was pleasantly surprised to see Dave King on ShopNBC the other night selling grandfather clocks from Germany. Then I saw him there this morning selling fitness equipment. I just read his profile on the ShopNBC website. I always liked Dave on QVC and am glad to see that he landed on his feet. I wish him the best and will just check him out on ShopNBC.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You can check hin out but don't check out ShopNBC'S Customer Service or Products! I don't think you'll be seeing him for long. Rudeness and unprofessionalism runs wild at that network. Read the Consumer Complaints Website. He has to be aware of ShopNBC'S HORRIBLE behaviors.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It seems good to see Dave King on ShopNBC. Personally I've shopped with SNBC since they were Valuvision and never have had a problem with customer service or their products. I think all the shopping channels have their share of complaints. I know that I have had my problems with QVC and haven't shopped there in years.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just saw Dave King on SNBC, saw Paul Deasey last week, found out Suzanne Somers was on there pushing her loot.........what's up with QVC loosing all these fine folk, except for Suzanne, she was HSN. I love my shop channels, but can't help but wonder who's zoomin' who?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wondered what happened to Dave King. I truly enjoyed him as well. What happened to Patti Riley. Before she lost the weight, she was really sweet and genuine. Then she lost the weight and thinks she is a movie star. What's up with that??? Also, Jane Tracy drives me to drink. She won't shut up. I love David V. Hope HE doesn't leave QVC - he is really a joy to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dave King seemed like a gentlemen. But QVC kept him buried on nights. They get rid of him and keep that obnoxious Rick Domeier. He is loud and never shuts up! You can never listen to what the guest has to say about the product because he talks incessantly. I turn him right off!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I always thought Dave King was a creep, especially on his jewelry shows with the female models--always "goosing" them purporting to point out features of the necklaces they had on, and so forth. He was obviously very needy and lonely. The first thing he should have had done was to get his hairline fixed--it's disgusting. I turn off ShopNBC when he's on these days, I'm glad to see him gone from QVC. He's well built, but a freak.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. wow that's pretty harsh. i do recall him flirting with the models on the jewelry shows, now that you mention it, but it didn't strike me as too bad. i surely wouldn't call him a "creep" nor say his hairline is "disgusting" though. you're disgusting obviously!

  37. I met Dave King at a QVC red carpet weekend and out of all the hosts I met I found him to be the most stuffy & dismissive. Didn't look you in the eye. David V. on the other hand by the
end of the weekend, remembered my name.....

  38. QVC is prejudice. Lisa Robertson, who is she? Always the one who gets all the glory. Italy, to sell jewelry, Mercedes Fashion Week, Red Carpet (celebrate her anniversary). Big shot. If she is so Big Shot, why isn"t she working with Regis. Its QVC loss to lose Dave King, Bob Bowersox (2 gentlemen) Paul& Judy, Kim Parrish, Susan Runyan, and 2 other Big Name Gentlemen, Thomas Pacconi and Thomas Kincaid who are on ShopNBC.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. kim parrish was a GREAT host...thanks for reminding me. however, she has or had a line of fashion she was hawking over at HSN which i found very odd. you would think QVC would have scooped her up, since she was so beloved by the viewers. what's up with that??

  39. Patty Riley is so sicknin. Yes, you lost weight. You were pleasant at first. Now you are so obnoxious. Can hardly stomach you. All the fake laughing and revealing outfits. Jeanne Bice looks like she just tolerates you now. Get a life, get a man. Leave the man alone who sells flowers. You are all over him. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Yeah, you may be smaller in size, but your head is big and inflated. Get off your high horse and be a real person. Rick Domeier, can't stand him either. Loud mouth, Rude, Obnoxious. Also, the host on Sat. Q check with David, Shawn, the Lisa Robertson wanna bee, is so superficial, and plastic. YOU ARE NOT ALL OF THAT, IN FACT, YOU ARE NONE OF THAT!! I MUTE the TV when Patty, Rick, & Shawn are on the air or I turn to HSN, REAL TV HOSTS. Good luck QVC owners, on how you chose to run your business. You have lost a lot of customers.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree with every one qvc should of stuck with most of the host that were there from the beginning they helped make me a customer I felt like they were family Wake up qvc

    ReplyDelete
  41. I believe all the negativity about each shopping channel's hosts is "obnoxious." If you don't like these people, then don't watch! These people are just doing their jobs and most of them do extremely well. Whose place is it to say that a woman needs to get a man? (Like having a man makes a woman have a life. Life is what you make it!) The viewers need to have a life!

    1. i think that was said in the context that patti flirts like crazy with the cottage farm guy (isn't he flaming gay anyway?) and the clark's guy (although he seems to reciprocate). i wish patti would hook up with him and get married and have kids. that's what she's always wanted.

  42. I quit watching Rick Domeier after the time he was so rude and sarcastic to Bob Wharton
who was selling Cooks Essentials. Bob W. was the perfect gentlemen and did his best to ignore the way Rick was treating him. I have not bought anything Rick is selling since that day. I'm shocked he is still with QVC. I wonder how many other shoppers QVC has lost because of Rick D.

  43. What happened to the Thomas Pacconi line on QVC? Did QVC drop his line...mistake!

  45. QVC CEO, GEORGE is a scam. He needs to be canned. Cannot imagine the Board of Trustees keeping him on board. IF CUSTOMERS KNEW WHAT HE DOES TO THE RELIABLE 'OLD' CUSTOMERS, EVERYONE WOULD BOYCOTT QVC. 46. Dave King is the brother of a Pittsburgh TV NEWS Host Patrice King-Browm. Her Dr. husband sold snake oil medication on QVC under Dave's watch and things went south. It was illegal, Dave got fired, Patrice was given her last contract at KDKA (to finish out her remaining years of contract) and as of today is also gone.

    1. wow that's a pretty scandalous accusation! any proof to that? what was the "snake oil" called?? if it was under dave's "watch" then how did it get approved through qvc's "great" quality control to begin with???
