Lisa Robertson Wiggles and Jiggles

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! The other night on PM Style, Lisa Robertson finally let down her guard and let loose, breaking it down with the infamous Women With Control "No More Wiggle, No More Jiggle" dance! Haters be damned!

So what exactly is the story behind the "No More Wiggle, No More Jiggle" dance? How did this home shopping rump shaking thing get started in the first place?

Now this has absolutely nothing to do with nothing, but Renée’s ethnicity is so interesting and diverse, I just have throw it in here. She is a combination of Ethiopian, Scottish, Native American, and German decent. Her mother is Jewish, but she went to Catholic theology school. And she’s a Canadian to boot! She is a one woman United Colors of Benetton ad.

After deciding against theology school, Renee attended the Fashion Institute NY, worked as a fit model, and then moved into fashion sales. Eventually, she worked for a company that sold private label clothing to QVC. (On a side note ... Could Renee be the woman behind the mysterious Jessica Holbrook line? Who is Jessica Holbrook, exactly?) While working behind the scenes at the Q, Renee met Bob Johnson—which you will probably remember  from the old Mojave Magic makeup line—who encouraged her to go out on her own. So in 2001, her company Two Chicks in the Backroom was born.

Renee brought the Slinky fabric to QVC, but they were forced to change the name when Horizon Mills (who was working with HSN at the time) sued. Slinky can still be found on HSN today, always and forever with that ridiculous little registered trademark sign beside the name. Renee came up with the name Citiknits, which QVC promptly trademarked, and for the first time she started working in front of the camera. Renee eventually left Citiknits, which is currently dying a slow, painful death at the Q, and started Attitudes by Renee and later added Women With Control. The main difference, of course, is that she owns those names, not QVC.

One fateful night during a Women With Control presentation, QVC model, Jacqui Thompson, uttered those famous words for the first time, “no more wiggle, no more jiggle,” and Renee immediately had them trademarked. The rest, as they say, is history.

Sometimes cringe-worthy, sometimes funny, but always pure home shopping cheesiness... take it away girls...

Today's Blue Plate Specials ... 10,000 Calories

Be sure to vote in the Home Shopping Cage Match!!! It's at the top of the right hand column, so it's easy to find. Every vote counts, Vote or Die, Rock the Vote, and all that business. This week two plastic surgery divas face off: Joan Rivers vs. Adrienne Arpel. Who do you think does it better???

I was watching the Olympics swimmers in their little Spanx-looking swimsuits again last night and saw an interesting segment about Michael Phelps. He said that he has to eat between 8 to 10 thousand calories a day. 10,000 calories!!! Basically, when he's not swimming or sleeping, he's eating. I would look like Jabba the Hut!

There are rumors flying that Paula Abdul is coming to HSN after her split from the Q and that Rosie O'Donnell will also be selling craft stuff on HSN. I haven't seen anything to substantiate either of these yet, but my fingers are crossed! Many people seem to think that it would be a bad thing. Come on! Think about the entertainment value, people.

HSN TS is a Slinky Brand 3 piece Jacket and Pant Set. I am not feeling this one--probably because it's hand wash and lay flat to dry. Although, I will say that I'm glad they offer the different blazer styles (three-quarter sleeve, button, or zip) and different lengths (petite, regular, and tall). I'm sorry, but you just can't hem something like this! Or at least I can't.

The QVC TSV is the Borba Age Defying Complete 4-piece Recovery Kit. Although I haven't tried this kit, I do have a little Borba in my collection. I don't know how well it works since I can never use one product exclusively or long enough to actually find out. I can say that it smells great! And if you want that new age defying advanced recovery creme, you'll have to get it from QVC since it won't be in other stores until February.

The Judith Ripka TSV on Thursday will be a Sterling 18", 22" or 54" Cultured Freshwater Pearl Chain You can go ahead and order it now ... not that I love Ripka or anything. Unlike Czar Naomi, Judith seems to actually appreciate her QVC customers. And don't forget: Free Shipping on all TSV's this week!

The ShopNBC OTV is a 14K White or Yellow Gold Five Stone 1.00ct Princess Cut Diamond Ring. The description states that the color is H-I and the clarity is I2-I3, but it seems to look better than that. Maybe the on-air samples are a little better. I do like this ring since I have a thing for band-style rings.

Today's Blue Plate Special ... Cage Match!

QVC's TSV is a M by Marc Bouwer V-Neck Knit Tunic w/ Embellishment in three different colors. I love, love, love this! Stylish, flattering, designer, wash-n-wear ... perfect. Plus, I get to watch that cute little Marc Bouwer in his skinny jeans and mushroom hair. Love him!

HSN's TS is a Slinky Brand Empire Tunic and Palazzo Pants Set in four different colors. Each color has a different neckline and embellishments. I 'm rather partial to the teal myself, but I just can't pull off palazzo pants. They make me look like a little tea pot--short and stout!

And of course this all leads to the age-old feud, HSN's Sliky vs. QVC's Citiknits. They just need to have a home shopping cage match smack down and be done with it.

ShopNBC's OTV is a Sterling Silver / 18K Rose or Yellow Vermeil Blue or Chocolate Diamond Ring. The design of this ring is good, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Those itty-bitty diamonds are barley noticeable and you know that vermeil is gonna wear off.
