HSN's New Reality TV Show

HSN is getting into the reality television business with TLC and Kelly Ripa. They'll be looking for the next great momtrepreneur who will get the chance to sell her product on HSN.

The show is going under the working title of Mom Inc. for now.

Each of these budding business women will have the chance to prove that they have what it takes to get their very own creations sold on HSN every inventor's dream come true.

Ripa will appear in each episode selecting a product and sending her expert into the field to put the would-be moguls through a series of tasks meant to get their product ready for the masses.

What do you wanna bet that Joy Mangano will mentor this group of struggling inventors on at least one episode???

  1. Wonder if it's open to non-moms? Let's hope so!

  2. My opinion...the shopping networks are ALREADY in the reality TV business. The so called "reality" TV shows are anything but- most are taped, edited for content and language, and manipulated for dramatic effect. The only TRUE reality TV can be found in sports, live breaking news, financial news (as it happens) and the live broadcasts of QVC, HSN, ShopNBC, and the "minor league" networks- the hosts and vendors go on camera, they are "live", and they work without a net. They have an idea of what they're going to say and do, but usually have to deviate and just keep talking to fill time. There will always be callers saying outrageous things, ladders that collapse, batteries that blow up, uncontrolled cases of the giggles, words that sound like one of the seven you can't say on TV, wardrobe malfunctions, and just plain old brainlocks. The unexpected should always be expected.

And all the while, there are hundreds of Simon Cowell wannabe's just waiting to rip you to shreds on the network's bulletin boards.

That's probably why I watch it, and blog about it from time to time...its live TV, and it can be a hoot....and every once in awhile you find a person or two whose story should be told to a different audience.
