Bob Bids Adieu

So long ... farewell ... auf wiedersehen ... goodbye ...

Strange, isn't it?

Thanks to Millicent for the video. I look forward to reading your book! ;-)

  1. He looks so sad and strange. I hope he's on to bigger things now.

  2. It really is strange. Thanks for posting this QB, as I didn't see it when it aired.

  3. Thank you so much for posting the video. I have been watching/shopping with QVC since the old days of CVN. I always enjoyed watching Bob Bowersox's shows. He was the ultimate professional, and he leaves behind some very big shoes. I wish him nothing but the best in the future -- and I hope I get to see him again on the screen, be it the small screen (TV) or the big screen (movie theater). Janet

  4. Odd and sad. He looks as if he's about to cry. This doesn't look like the "I'm so happy to go on to new things" kind of video I would have thought. Who knows what the truth is. What a shame after so many years.

  5. Thank you very much for the video as I have been with QVC since CVN and I always like to watch Bob if I wasn't at his live audience shows. I also went to his Birthday Party when QVC was celebrating their birthday. Thanks again. Ruthie

  6. Well... that didn't come across as bad as I originally thought it was going to - judging from all that I had read. We all know, however, it was sudden and that makes you wonder... Thanks for sharing - I had missed it. Binda

  7. Bob's nose is red - he looks like he'd already been crying before making the video. I agree w/ the anonymous who said this doesn't look like the "I'm happy to be moving on to greener pastures." Still leaves everything open to speculation eh? I don't believe that he left so suddenly for "creative ventures," i think something came unhinged somewhere & his departure was sped up.....

  8. I was just about to say what Gale pointed out (above) - Bob's nose is very red, as if he'd been crying already, and he sounded very much like he would start crying again at any moment. Not a "happy" farewell occasion, as they tried to allude to in the video.

  9. i'm with gale & cupcaked on this one: either he was bawlin' his face off right before the taping or he's been hittin' the sauce a little too hard recently! LOL

poor boob (typo, but it stays). although i was never a fan, he *was* a fixture at my beloved Q :-/

now we just get to see more of david's "yum-yum" face every sunday (eye roll)

  10. I have waited to see this video and now it won't work! HELP ME PLEASE LOL!

  11. I guess this proves we all see things different ways. He doesn't look or seem sad to me and certainly not teary. He struck me as the usual Bob, the guy who can't even buy a personality.

"He struck me as the usual Bob, the guy who can't even buy a personality."

LOL! I'm sorry to seem so insensitive, but that pretty much sums up how I feel about Bob Bowersox. I never watched him (just like I don't watch Jane Rudolph Treacy and would not miss her if she left AGAIN). It's one of those EOTB/YMMV kinda things.

  13. I finally got the video to work.. Thanks Queen for posting this. Actually Bob looked pretty normal to me. Some of the women on the QVC boards were saying how he looked like he was crying, he was sick etc.. Must be me but he looked like and sounded like himself...I never really watched him that much but have been a QVC veiwer for 20 years so it is kind of sad to see someone who has been there that long just suddenly be gone but as they say "Time marches on and one day you realize it's marching right across your face"

    ReplyDelete
  14. I wasn't a fan of Bob myself but he has been on QVC for so long that I really expected more.....If not out of respect for Bob, then out of respect for his fans and the fans of QVC. The video shouldn't be hidden and it's a shame that QVC didn't do a more of a tribute regardless of the situation.

    Thanks for posting.....I stumbled;)

  15. You people are making something out of nothing!!!!!!! If I left a position at a company that I worked for for 22 years, I would be crying too AND my video would probably be like his!! Sheesh...he's moved and so should all of you. I don't believe for one minute he left due to other circumstances!! I mean how long can one do that? It's got to get boring at some point.

  16. Thank you QB for this site and giving us the chance to see Bob's fairwell video. He will be missed and like so many of you, only wish him well. I also have to say that I am having a hard time in trying to figure out what is in QVC head to let someone like him go and keep the chatty kathy's or those that must be on Vivarin or something, anyway..many thanks for the chance to view and share my thoughts.

  17. Bob, all of us at our house enjoyed your years on QVC very much. We wish you all the best! Take care & God Bless!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well keep in mind, how many of us if we worked for a company for 20 plus years and then was fired would be allowed to go around to all our coworkers and say goodbye? How many of us would be allowed to make a goodbye tape for those customers we deal with? We wouldn't. I don't know why QVC is expected to make an exception. And think about it, it's quite possible that Bob didn't want a big deal made other than the tape. The bigger the deal, the more questions arise why he is no longer working for them.
If he really cared about the QVC customers, he would've done his job either by getting the sales they required or by behaving appropriately of air.

  19. He may look this bad all the time, as he clearly wasn't wearing the typical makeup, etc., but I do agree he clearly had been crying and did not appear one bit happy about the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I do not bielive that Bob left on his own accord.he would have certainly mentioned his leaving on his cooking shows this was just too abrupt.Something happened what who knows but he did not leave under good curcumstances. He will be missed.

  21. Wow. Never thought I'd see a video of BB this way. Thank you for the clip, glad I got to see it. So much going on, I missed it during the holidays.

  22. I am thankfull for the posting of this videa as I did not get to see his farewell as i was unaware that there would be one. I have been his fan since day one. I will now shop elsewhere as I feel QVC is getting to big for their britches in all areas. I won't get started on that one. But as for Bob he will be missed by many that I know. Sundays will especially never be the same..........

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have never been a Bob Fan...But I hope he left on his own terms...Also, for all those people, who make comments implying, that "QVC used to be CVN"...Please note--At one time QVC and CVN were both on the air as competitor's (along with HSN)...QVC then bought out CVN. Hosts Marybeth Roe,Judy Crowell etc...came from CVN, and joined Kathy Levine, Bob Bowersox etc..on the newly merged QVC.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What a shame!!!! I too have watched QVC since day one and am a charter member. There have been so many exceptional hosts who are no longer with QVC and so many average to poor hosts still there. Unbelievable that that big fool David V. will take over the cooking show. I will no longer watch. An effeminate clown, he holds no credibility with me. Sorry QVC....this is a sad, sad day.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well I am very happy that I can now make Sunday afternoons my date IN THE KITCHEN and was extremely sick of Bob and his almost constant "taking liberties with the truth" on any product he presented for the past few years. That "big fool" at least tells the truth or doesn't say anything.... I have been with QVC since almost the beginning and I am as happy about Bob leaving as I was sad that Steve left.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm going to bet he was laid off. I saw around the end of the year that QVC was having the same economic issues that every other company has been having and that layoffs were imminent. This seems MUCH too sudden to have been of his own accord or without notice. He was probably one of, if not the, highest paid host there and his salary was probably one that could be cut. I wish him luck!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I didn't even know Bob left or was gone from QVC until today. I was just wondering "What About Bob?," (remember the movie? LOL)realizing I hadn't seen him for so long..now that I find out he left Dec. 21. Have been watching QVC since 1988, was busy around Dec. 21, not watching TV too often, but had not heard word one about him leaving the network. That is SO unlike QVC, not to give him a cake/party... Strange. To anonymous above who was mentioning the many QVC hosts who came from CVN...you forgot Jeff Hewson!!! Wonder what became of him? ;) The other poster mentioned Steve, I LOVED STEVE BRYANT!! He was so intelligent and fun to listen to and watch. Laid off? Never. Why would they layoff Bob and keep those annoying little cheerleaders with their clever "sweet" idioms?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well now I finally have my curiosity quelled!
They should of kept him and gotten rid of that annoying Jane Rudolf Treacy. How did she get away with just walking back into her position as if she never left? Must be married into the upper levels of management. Then the new one, what's her name that just got married. she could go, even though she is sweet, she is boring as all get out and can not sell worth a darn!

  29. Bob,
May you receive many blessings. I do miss you. Thank you for all the years. Sully

  30. Dear Bob
May your dreams come true and we wish you nothing but the best. I remember your first show on CVN I watched and said this guy will be here a long time well it's been 22 years and now your gone. The wife and I will miss you very much> We watched you every Sunday and looked forward to the show. Now David will take your place but it will not be the same. Best wishes and all the love in the world

  31. Thank You for posting this I was wondering where Bob was. It is very strange the way he left, I will miss him and I also wonder what happened to Dave King.

    ReplyDelete
  32. O.K., Bob wasn't my favorite either. Must agree, he's much better than Jane Treacy. She shames the whole place. She defines tacky in my book, with what she says and how she looks. She couldn't sell me fertilizer!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sorry to see Bob has left QVC. He was there from day one. I don't enjoy some of their new techniques. I guess anything goes if it makes a sale --
Whatever happened to the hosts giving us the actual price on an item. Now if the item is $19.96, a couple of the hosts say its $19.00. Right away I don't want to trust this person. Before I could always count on QVC for being 100% honest. And another annoying habit is one particular host saying the price is less than $1 a day or 50 cents a day. That's very deceiving. They need to take some lessons from Mary Beth and others more reputable. Sales may be down, but show some class. Maybe the two don't go together anymore.

  34. Thanks for posting this clip..I had wondered what happened to Bob Bowersox and this answered my question. I actually respected the man very much for his longevity with the channel and I enjoyed his Sunday "In the Kitchen" shows ...I guess this just proves that Corporate America considers ANYONE "Expendable" these days..even a man with 22 yrs of loyalty at his job....Pretty sad and it's not wonder I've lost respect, as a whole, for Corporate America and how less it values its employees.....

  35. Thanks for posting this video. I did have it on but turned it down to listen to my husband, not realizing what a momentous message from Bob that it was! I can always hear from my husband!! As for the various comments about likes/dislikes in the host department, it sounds like there is a well-rounded variety. To appeal to a wide variety of shopper, you have to have cocky hosts, modest hosts, beautiful (or fashionable) hosts, short hosts, tall hosts, serious hosts, funny hosts, etc. Sales are important and salespeople must sell. Some of us watch for companionship, interest in what's new, or to see how the hosts look today. I've turned down the sound if I get irritated with someone's voice. I liked Bob's cooking shows, although Bob had seemed like he was in a depression this past year. We all go through changes. Life will get better for Bob and for America.

  36. I hate to see him gone, but I do believe he is either sick or in a mid life crisis. My quess is that he is dating Lisa Mason or Marie Louise (kitchen gadget lady) and was forced to leave.

  37. i wa sorry to hear that Bob left QVC he was a gentleman &sincere man. He does do writing & acting so maybe he wanted to devote more time doing that & as he said being with his daughter. We should not get pleasure to gossip about something we know nothing about. Good luck & God Bless

  38. I did not realize that Bob was gone until the big cooking show that just happened. Bob was a chef before the Q and has done a couple of books that he mentioned. He looked like himself on the video. If I had worked somewhere for 20 years and was leaving, even by choice I would be emotional. It is hard to say goodbuy after that long. I think he had family in Florida.

  39. I just happened to be watching a segment of the St. Patrick's Day show, and a viewer called (I think Mary Beth was hosting, maybe not--it's all a blur) and ssked what happened to Bob. She said that he was doing well and living in Florida. I absolutely cannot stand Rick. As time passes, he gets more loud and obnoxious. Lisa Robertson used to be on 24-7, but I haven't seen her lately. For awhile there, it seemed like she was on twice a day. I'm wondering what is going on with her hair. I don't like JT either. I watch QVC because it is live and I'm sick of reruns.

  40. i have been wondering what happened to bob, this last year he didn.t look like he felt good i knew he had a daughter but what about his wife i noticed these last couple of months he wasn.t wearing his wedding ring and he always wore it maybe that,s why he left his life was falling apart.

  43. I have been sick of David Venable for years, I can't stand his rediculous mugging for the cameras and little old ladies, I do not watch in the kitchen anymore, and change the channel immediately when David's face shows up. Bob is missed I personally think he presented things in an isightfull manner, not pandering, nor patronizing and I respect(ed) that from him.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I hope BOb is keeping in touch with this little messageing. I will miss you Bob, and no one will ever take your place. Your a gentleman, and a fine and honest man. May God be with you always. And also with your family. ....IC in Massachusetts

  45. I just found out that Bob Bowersox is no longer with QVC. I didn't realize that because I don't tune into the cooking shows too often. However, I heard he had a fling with Patti Reilly. If that's the case I suppose that's why he was left go or fired. If this is true why didn't Patti Reilly also get fired??? It only seems fair.

  47. As far as his wife, they are apparently separated or divorced. A few months ago my wife and I were watching, and a caller actually asked him why he wasn't wearing his wedding ring!! It was SO awkward. He kinda stuttered and said something like "Well, the reason I am not wearing it is, uh, well, uh, I tell you what, if you will email me I will glad to explain it." It was crazy!

  48. Thanks for posting the video, we missed the "departure" announcement. We loved watching Bob and have wondered where he went. Took a lot of searching to find this post, and glad we were able to find it on your site. Bob is sorely missed, he was there from the beginning. My family and I have watched QVC since it's inception. So sad to see Bob go...QVC isn't the same without him. Some of the hosts they have been selecting are really not good at all...going back to Macys.

    ReplyDelete
  49. yah was wondering about him, I always liked his German Brewfest shows in the fall..
Did he really have a thing with Patty Riley? I cant stand her... but I enjoy all the other hosts, Ive been watching and buying from them since they were CVN..
Gonna miss Bob, he was a classy guy..

    ReplyDelete
  50. Agree with anonymous regarding some of the newer hosts. Miss Bob's cooking shows, he was knowledeable about the subject. Didn't know about the 'rumors' between him & Patti. Sounds suspicious. Such a shame. But doesn't it take two to tango? BOTH parties should be held equally responsible & accountable for their actions. Hmm... makes you wonder...

  51. Has anyone taken a good look at Leah W. since her return from medical leave?
She looks as if she's lost weight -did she have surgery? Granted some people do lose weight when sick. Nevertheless, she is still beautiful and what I consider a class act.

    ReplyDelete
  52. looks like Leah had a nose job/face lift

    ReplyDelete
  53. I know this is old news but Bob left and got a divorce, that is why he said he would be spending a lot of time with his daughter...didn't mention his wife. He moved to FL...maybe Patti was considering going with him when she was deciding whether to stay or quit

    ReplyDelete
  54. I can't believe out of all these posts that Bob's portrayal of an openly gay man in more than one movie (e.g. "Touched" released in 2003) didn't rattle the cages of the ultra-right conservative fundamentalists at QVC. His firing was no surprise. Incidentally, the funniest thing I ever saw Bob do on QVC was demonstrating a Cuisinart Quick Prep Mini food processor. It was a disaster. He had put too much in the thing and the liquid inside shot out of the top, down the sides and all over the place. He was totally unfazed.. went right on saying what an great gadget it was...

  55. Tried to watch tacori presentation omg could not get past patty reillys ugly fingers yuck!!

  56. I was shocked to find all the negative remarks on QVC line regarding employees who have left the show. I was wondering today What happened to Patty Reilly. When I read the malice and cruel remarks about her I was shocked! She lost weight and was looking good. The End! Then there was Bob Bowersocks (?) not sure about last name. I watched him every Sunday. When he stated he was leaving I was glad for him thinking he must be moving forward and up! The comments made were mean and none of anyones business! His personal life should stay just that! IF he was in a relationship with another at the Q then Two people should be missing, it's does take two. He had class and did his job, so not everyone agrees with the statements made on line. It is hard (for me ) to understand when someone comes up missing, there one day and gone the next. I wonder and care about them. I watched Ms Lisa R. one night and got up and turned off the TV, She and the guest she was working with needed to go get a room . If I wanted to watch smut I would watch HBO! I added that litle bit because there are others on air that are so in love with themselves I don't see how they have time to sell product. And when she is taking a phone call she sings her goodbye in a very annoying tone that drives me up the wall. With that said none of them are perfect, a couple are close but no prize.

  57. Bob, I miss you so much, I can't stannnnnnnnd David and his faces... I mean it's funny for a few times, but every damn bite of food? Not necessary. I'd never buy anything from him.
