The Jewelry Channel Melts

The Jewelry Channel has been going out of business for what seems like forever, and now they finally did ... or at least they changed their name. Same difference, right?

The Jewelry Channel is now the Liquidation Channel.

So what's changed? Well, they have this super snazzy new logo:
Pretty rockin', isn't it?

They are also now sell things like gloves and scarves along with usual assortment of gems and jewelry--so you can clearly see how it's a completely different company!

Did I mention that they redecorated the set too?

Here's my favorite quote about the change:

"The Liquidation Channel is a brand new concept in video retailing, and it's something we believe is going to take off like a rocket," said Dan Dennis, head of talent. "We're going to buy lots of jewelry from people that need to sell this stuff to survive."

First, it's Dan Dennis. Even if you don't remember him, check out his website here. There's even a page dedicated to spotting former home shopping hosts.

Second, he used the term "video retailing" for home shopping. I've been waiting for this one. Home shopping has such a huge stigma that it was only a matter of time before someone attempted to re-brand it. "Video Retailing Queen" just doesn't roll off the tongue though, does it?

Third, they are buying from desperate people needing to unload their goods to survive? Sounds like this place is worse than Big Lots or a Pawn Shop!

I think this channel is only on Direct TV, which means no Liquidation Video Retailing for me!

  1. Big scam. For months they claimed they were going out of business, delaying the date, with no refunds, and now that they are still here, (which was obvious they weren't going anywhere, new jewelry, new hosts) they still do not have returns. I understand a "going out of business sale" would not give refunds, but they never left. I hope people are furious with them as I am, I would not give them any business.

  2. hehe ~ I commented on the other post.
    PO'd that I didn't make a healthy bet! :p

    Dan The Con Man. blech!

Just the same, it's sad, to me, that there are people watching for whom picking up the phone and sending their money to flimflam hucksters brings them some sort of fulfillment. And, our society has no shortage of those striving to take the call$. :(

  3. I notice no update on the toupe wearing Mel Arthur on Dan the scam website?

He was hawking some kind of air cleaner that was a fire hazard and now its the internet phone where he speaks real slooooow as if his target audience is retarded.

  4. I have been working there for some time now, what we would now call the 'new' Liquidation Channel. Trust me, if we could change more things like the merchandise and a better set and better policy, we would. But as is true in most companies the ones at the top that make the biggest and most important decisions seem to be far out of touch with what needs to really happen to make a station work. Everyone that works there are great people and we do fully understand what happened. We cannot do a thing about it no matter how much we stress the need for real change. So when I say we are on your side, we really are. It is almost painful to see what is happening there but for the people who work there, we have fun. It's a cool job and we do give people some good deals, just wish we were able to do more things different. All I can say is if you would like to express the feelings that most of us who work there feel please write an email to live@liquidationchannel.com with suggestions and maybe together we can make real change. Like I said, we, as employees know exactly how you feel but we need jobs, just wish the head boss man would listen to his people. Thanks for listening. Anonymous employee

  5. Dear Anon Employee,

Thank you so much for presenting your side of the issue.

I would never blame the "low man on the totem pole" at any company. They don't make the big decisions regarding the direction of the company. All they can do is carry out the orders and work hard. And in this economy, any job is a good job!

I wish you and everyone else there the best.

Let's follow through with our complaints and actually email the company like Anon Emplyee suggested.

    live@liquidationchannel.com

    Hopefully things will improve!

  6. I don't see what the problem is? If you don't like this channel than simply, don't watch it. They haven't done anything wrong. They found a way to continue to make a living. You should be happy for them and just hope they do well.

  7. I personally am happy they stayed in business. I like their stuff. I've always gotten good quality and price!

  8. Good and Bad...Mostly bad (95% bad)

I am a new customer of the liquidation channel and was unaware of the craziness explained about them being a different company prior. It definitely sounds sleazy, yet makes sense as my recent experience with them is what got me looking for feedback on them from others.

My experience with customer service over all is very bad. I have had a few good
experiences with some of the reps which
tells me the others have the opportunity to be the same (stating the obvious i know) but the bad experiences i have had are really bad.

Here are a few things I had to deal with & with out resolution or decent service.

1)They were rude. One guy was yelling and just had a really cocky attitude. I even tried to kill him with kindness but he was on his "I answer phones for LC channel "high horse" LOL. (this was when I first started) because I tried calling about an item right after it went off the screen. (Hmmm maybe if they answered the phone within 5 minutes it would still be on the screen)

2)They wouldn't give me item information on the items I bought#%?? How suspicious is that...shouldn't it be on the invoice??? How do you make sure when appraising that it was a decent deal. I even offered to get the info off the website but guess what....IT"S NOT THERE!!

    3) finally I received a few pieces that were pretty bad...one was a ruby (really bad). I don't even think it's real. I'm going to have it appraised and even if it is real it is such poor quality.

    4) Then there is the "no return issue". With a risk like that it's worth trying to source the product elsewhere or go to Overstock where they have returns and I found recently better deals.

Hope this feedback helps both sides!

  9. I don't know what you are talking about-I LOVE the liquidation channel and have purchased many things from them with no problems-and I am totally happy with the quality of the merchandise and the price I got it at. If you don't like it-don't watch it--duh...................

  10. hi my name is amber, i am in green bay wisc. i just recently bought 2 tanzanite rings from the liquidation channel. the rings have no weight at all and the tanzanite stones look purple, one of the rings is suppose to be 3a. i know i will never buy anything from them again.

  11. i will let you know what my jeweler says about the apprasal. i am going to take both my rings to 'chandlers' they are a good but very expensive jeweler.

  12. They are a scam. My husband not realizing what he was actually doing purchased a lot of there stuff. When I contacted them and notified them that he was recovering from a major surgery and had cognitive issues. It was completely ignored even to the point that WALON asked to talk to my husband to get permission to talk to me and he told my husband all sale were final and hung up. When the lawyer contacted TEENA she gave her a run around and said they would send a letter. DO NOT PURCHASE from them and pass the word to anyone you know. There are always exception to the rule and I could provide medical documents to back up his condition. I hope they never have a family member go through what we have and then have people like them take advantage of the situation.

  13. I have shopped from Liquidation Channel before, actually many times, and I like it. I don't know what bad luck the rest of you have had with the costumer service, but when I called to get info, they were very polite to me and the guy stayed on the line with me while I copied down item numbers. I am satisfied with the jewelry, only once a garnet bracelet I bought came with a loose stone, but it was easily fixed and I still use it.
So I guess LC is like any other store, some people like them, others can't find enough to complain about.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Another thing, be polite to costumer service people. A lot of you wont admit it, but if a costumer service rep was mean to you, 8 times of 10 you were probably mean first. They have to deal with a lot of crap from different people all the time, and they'll want to help someone who is polite and calm with them on the line.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I am news for you I was crying and was very nice to the rep and they would not talk to them and when I told them my husband wasn't cognitive of what he did they asked to talk to him and told him all sales were final and hung up. When they told me they just needed permission from him to talk to me. I have never made a public complaint on anyone. And to any of you that may read this, I AM TOTALLY TELLING YOU THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

  17. The LC channel is a joke! I believe you, because QVC is trating my mother badly over faulty rolo bracelets. Inez from QVC should go work at LC. They seem to act the same. LC station just laughs at people on the line. Good Luck . STAY AWAY FROM QVC! They are also treating the masses horribly!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dear Ms Anonymous............hahahahaha really funny about your husband having cognitive issues. You realized you didnt want to keep your jewelry after the allotted time period and wanted to send it back...TOO BAD. Also how the hell could someone have a medical condition that causes them to buy jewelry ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Ummmmm hmmmmm, wake up and smell the coffee, the world does not revolve around you. It was you or your husbands error, DEAL WITH IT!

  19. Liquidation Channel is the best channel for my money. There is no comparison for the quality and value I recieve. Sometimes there are small errors on an order here and there. As with anything in life nothing is perfect. But LC has always worked with me to correct any issues. LC does have a 30 warranty on items if defective. So I still have a great comfort in purchasing non-returnable items. LC does have a 14 day return period for any item costing over $200. LC has proved to me to be the best bang for my buck. Just a little tip for all you leary shoppers.... LC's Parent company "STS Jewels" who manufactures LC's jewelry also sales jewelry to other Big Name shop at home channels. No names but a couple hints. Both have 3 letter names. One starts with "Q", the other starts with "H"... Those channels charge 3-4 times as much for the same jewelry. You are basicly paying for the name of the channnel you are buying it from. That does not make sense to me or my checkbook. Think about it. Do your research like I did. You'll be happy with all the money you save and the great jewelry. I know I am!

  20. Hello -
Just wanted to say that we have had great experiences with Liquidation Channel. We don't know anyone who works there, but the customer service reps have always been so nice and helpful.

I've shopped with several television and online jewelry retailers - and find the quality, service and price at Liquidation Channel to be excellent.

I realize that their cameras and graphics aren't high end - and their hosts tend to raise their voices to the point of "yelling" - but I've enjoyed my purchases - of which their have been many! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've shopped w/ LC when they were The Jewelry Channel. Sure, I encountered a few problems with ordering items only to find out they didn't have enough in their inventory to begin with. Just like any store, on tv or not, it's only "reality" that there is no such thing as "perfect". I live in Tucson Arizona (home of the infamous INTERNATIONAL GEM/MINERSAL SHOW), and go to the wholesale shows, and I can honestly say that LC has pretty good pricing for retail. Obviously they do need to make a profit as well. All in all, **1 LC customer service reps are not all rude. I've talked to a few that went over above & beyond.

    **2 90% of the items I bought, I liked & kept.

**3 The lady with the sick husband, sorry for her situation but probably should have had more self-control when it came to ordering from home shopping ntwks. It's a business, and I've never heard of a business that took back loads of "used" returned merchandise for any reason, especially hers.

**4 Lastly, if you dont like the products, then dont shop their anymore. There is just simply no reason to "bash" LC. From what I've read here there are more positive feedback than negative.

  22. My original order from LC was a VERY modestly priced citrine ring. To my surprise, it was nicely done and I've worn it several times. I have since ordered from LC several times and have not been disappointed in the quality of any of these inexpensive items. A couple of them I've worn more than my really expensive jewelry!

My last order was messed up; when I called in, I didn't hear the automated voice give me the current item and assumed it was what was being shown. As a result I received a ring I didn't want instead of the earrings I did want. I sent LC an email explaining the problem and received a prompt and courteous answer. I'm returning the ring for a refund or replacement. I can't figure out why some folks are so hot about this organization.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really like the LC. I have bought many things and I do get some not up to par. I did buy a ruby ring 14kt gold and it didn't look anything like a ruby, it was pink, dull. Then I purchased a citrine 14kt and it was orange in color, not the citrine shown on TV. A couple others were damaged, BUT, I try to really check the items out now that I buy and overall they have been really good to me. They DO tell you on certain items there is NO refund etc. Rhonda

  24. I've purchased many items at LC as well as when they were TJC. The quality of their items was much better when they were TJC. Now they sell poor quality items that break and their "platinum over sterling" rings are near impossible to have resized. I have 2 rings where the stones popped out and when I tried to put them back in, the prongs bent like they were made of cheap plastic! I also have a bracelet that broke apart after only wearing it a dozen or so times! My advice is to be very careful when buying from Liquidation Channel. "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't".

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have had good luck with the Artisian jewelry. But not with items that need prongs to hold the stone.

I first bought a multi-gem braclet. I wore it the day it came, later that same day I noticed that it was missing a stone. I had no problems returning it. They issued a refund becuse they has not more in stock.

I had also bought a multi-gem pendant, it also lost a stone the first time I wore it. I was issued a credit.

Then I bought ANOTHER mult-saphire pendatn, it too lost a stone. Was issued another credit.

I purchasted a multi-gem ring, which I just noticed today that it has a missing stone--but it is after 30 days so I assume I'm out of luck.

I think I'll stick with the artisian pieces, they seem to be able to hold together.

But now I have a rather large credit, and I'm thinking about buying something from their better line, the Rhapsody or Illianna (not sure about the spelling). I would like to hear from someone who bought one of those. Is it really platnium?

  27. I, too used to work at The Jewelry Channel before it changed over to The Liquidation Channel. A few good friends of mine are still stuck at that place and from what I understand, it seems like management is trying, but management has NO interest in understand the "low on the totem pole" guys. It unfortunately is the epitomy of "corporate" and for me, I was pretty much begging to leave when I finally left, and then it took them about 2 years to get my COBRA insurance paperwork processed and I had bill collectors on my phone because of crap they messed up and refused to follow up on. Anyway, as I was in the studio all the time, some of their jewelry is actually very nice. I learned a lot about jewelry and now walking into a jewelry store pisses me off bc I'm used to really nice stuff. It's just if you buy something from them ... pray they don't mess up your order!! That's just a little input from Peaches :) Good Luck shopping to ya'll.

  28. Where I live, the only home shopping WAS JTV,QVC,or HSN, SO I was excited when I saw the Liquidation Channel about 2 months ago. The items you see on TV and their website look really decent, so I purchased a few items. I used the auction and had won an apatite ring for $14. so I kept bidding on more items. When I had tried to pay for my ring with a pre-paid Vanilla Visa Card, I was told by the "LC" that they couldn't accept that card. So needless to say I had to go out and get an American Express pre-paid card to purchase all of the items I won in the auction (which is a good few things). I had to wait 6 business days to get my ring which I got today. The stones are VERY different then what was on the website. The stones are a very light blueish green (when they were supposed to be a medium blue) and now that I have just read about the woman above who purchased about 3 or 4 different things and the stones fell out makes me really worried about all the other items I have not yet received. ALSO, (and this is what put the icing on the cake) I was on EBAY looking for Drusy Quartz when I came upon a TRUDY2 (and please look this up before you buy ANYTHING from them), who had THE SAME EXACT ITEMS that the "LC" has. TRUDY2 had my ring along with about 4 or 5 other for a total WITH shipping for about $22-$25. I was FLOORED! For example: TRUDY2 had the "TANZANITE" set, including 3 rings, a pair of earrings, 3 necklaces all for $26.95 INCLUDING shipping. Another example: The "MEXICAN FIRE OPAL" set, 6 rings, 2 necklaces, and a pair of earrings for $28.95. I could keep going. I had sent trudy2 a message and asked if they sold to "LC" and I was informed that they get them from the same supplier. SO from here on out I will NEVER AGAIN order from "LC' with their so-called "GUARANTEED LOWEST PRICES". My A$$ it's the lowest price. I wish I had done more searching then just buying. SO basically I felt I was burned by them. And their so called "guarantee" only applies to print or TV adds. I just wanted all of you to know that, and I don't really give a $^*@ what ANYONE else says. ALSO, I ATTACHED HER SITE ON MY URL: http://myworld.ebay.com/trudy2/
Thank you all for your comments.

  29. Stay away from LC's auction!! RUN..dont walk! When you bid on an item,it simply isnt there!Out of 10 items Ive bid on & won, only 1 item was there.LC said you have to pay for your item within 24 hrs or it goes back to auction.BS.I waited all day long to pay for 9 items, only to end up with 1 48' strand of pearls that are awful! some of the pearls are the size of peas & some are black. They are supposed to be bronze.Do not pay for items until you check to see if they are there! Chances are, they wont be!Go to your acct, hit your auction site,go to upper left hand corner(very top box)type in item #.Bet its not there! ppl are paying for items that do not exist! Do these ppl ever stop?? Is this LC's way to buy new stock?? Im still waiting for a refund on an item I bought in apr. These ppl REFUSE to give me my refund. Not only that,I made a bid (3 months ago)on a $15 item & they took 100.00 out of my acct.LC said it got lost in cyberspace.LOL-NOT! Ive spent over 2 grand with this POS co.& I wish I never did! This is how they treat their customers,by robbing them! I got someone to purchase an item for me 2 weeks ago at $19.99 & they took out $29.99 b4 postage.Anyone that has a good biz going these days should be thankful & not abuse it.It is just a matter of time b4 this idiot ceo will go down. One of the customer reps had the nerve to ask me for the pin # on my card! He's a black man..sounds hard-core ghetto,& doesnt pay any attention to you until you bring up paying for an item. And dont bring up that racist crap w/me..I am not racist! I cant believe he still works there! You think you're getting good deals? ha ha..check your bank acct 4 or 5 times a day, then we'll see whos getting what! The Ghost bidders on the auction are a joke.If you've made a bid for lets say,12 bux,a ghost bidder pops up & makes a bid for 25bux (19.99 onTV)& does this on almost everything you bid on.??? If you win theres nothing there to pay for anyway on the higher quality items. It magicly disappears, then reappears back on the auction.Selling items that are not there. What a sleazy-lowlife scam!Check b4 you pay.An easy way for LC to get large ammounts of $ from ppl by slideing the same pics around & its CHRISTMAS already!Starting In SEPT??They ruined my B-day gift to someone, now they have the chance to make tons of $ on the auction useing our lords B-day as an exscuse to rip off ppl & ruin our gifts to our loved ones.Nice co.huh? The B-day gift I purchased was from Tv & the auction is the worst!Steer clear. They're really greedy right now & dont give a flying u know what about us! Sad human beings! I have a couple more stories to post. Will be back later.Gotta go to my bank to fight these jerks.Lovely way to spend my day.

I agree with you when i saw that response to you I about fell out of my chair, this person apparently works for LC and is a total jacka I am so sorry that someone would say those things about someone who has been hurt, but I would bet money they work for this company, in fact I think all the positive reviews are put here from the people who own the company, because I have had only 2 dealing and they screwed up both orders. Dont take these low life people to heart just consider the source. good luck to you and your husband.

  31. My daughter and I have both recently started shopping with LC and we are both very satisfied with everything we have received. I have a large collection of jewelry from various sources including Hsn, qvc, Jtv, shopnbc... I have not purchased anything from LC over $100 yet but I have been thrilled with all that I've bought. In fact, I bought a tanzanite ring from another station and compared the stones with a with a similar ring I won in an LC auction for less, and the stones on the latter were much better so I will continue to buy from LC. I don't know anyone that works there and I actually have never even talked to anyone there as I do all business on line.

  32. re LC's online auction. I got suckered into that too. I've never bought anything by phone (TV)or from their online store... I do check their online store prices first (when the item is there) and never bid higher than about half that price.

I've received defective items, items that looked nothing like the picture, and mistagged items.

Their response is always the same - return with a note and they will determine if your return is valid.

Major problem here is they automatically issue store credit instead of cashback to the CC you used. Here again you must contact them to insist on the refund you requested. Then they never credit for the initial shipping charges (2.95 usually)!

I had 4 recent returns b/c they shipped cheaper chains than what I "won" (picture did not match) and now refuse to credit CC - holding my funds hostage as a store credit. They never tell you they've done this either UNLESS you contact them about the status of the return.

I'm done with them - have opened a complaint with BBB and both my banks!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Me again. I also "won" an item via auction, paid for it, and it never shipped... Emailed them. 4 days later they respond that they never had the item in inventory and will credit my CC. One wonders how it got on their website!

Also they have replaced the velvet ring boxes with cardboard boxes.

CS will tell you that you can keep calling for an answer but according to a BRIAN Nothing will change. I guess he's right. Other than I will change!! I will not order ANYMORE!!!! LC does not care well neither will I!! LC PAY AND DO WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT JUST AS A COMPANY BUT AS HUMAN BEINGS! LC can take my money but refuses to give BASIC CS answers. COMMON SENSE!!Shopping should be fun and I guess even though people like me have spent thousands with LC they do not care. I have also contacted my Credit Card. I told my card Good Luck reaching them. LC is now acting like HSN. Mr. Dennis must have taught them the mean and tacky business skills he acquired from HSN,Shop at Home, and shopNBC. I can't believe the hosts and employees have the stomach to behave in this manner to so many customers from what I am reading. All of the Home Shopping Networks should be forced to behave as upstanding business why aren't they? The consumers let them get away with it. It needs to end. The Credit Card should not have to pay for LC's mistakes. I THINK LC IS KNOWS THE CARDS WILL!! I sometimes wonder what country I am living in. Shame on LC!! What if someone did this to you????? HORRIBLE!!!!!!

Just admit your mistakes and improve things. RUN A PROPER BUSINESS!! the networks and the hosts are bossy, phoney, and shameless. STOP SHOPPING!! MAYBE THEY WON'T HAVE YOUR MONEY AND THEN MAYBE SOME RESPECT WILL BE GIVEN!!! DO YOU ACT LIKE THIS AT YOUR JOB? STOP REWARDING BAD BUSINESS BEHAVIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Honestly, people. Report this channel all you want. If they are not who they say they are, enough people will report them and they will get taken down. But too many people get what they pay for, obviously, or there would be alot more complaints on this site about LC. You have to understand you get what you pay for, wherever you go, whether it be in store, online, or on tv. Expensive things break just as badly as cheap things. You just dont read too much about that because I think people are embarrassed they paid more for something that broke. I bought a jewelry set from

    ReplyDelete
  42. From jc penney and the stone in the ring is loose. Alot of people pay for designer stuff that can and does break. But alot of people also pay for cheap stuff knowing it could break, because you get what you paid for, whether it be a name or brand or a dollar store find. I myself have had good service with the LC so far and undetand that ina no return policy under a certain amount, i better either love what i bought or dont buy anymore from them. Smart people make snart choices. They always read the fine print, double check what they bought by having it appraised, and understand that you get what you pay for. Nothing in this world is free, if something is too good to true, it usually is, and you are always cautious if you ever come across those kind of deals or take advantage of them. One last piece of advice..... Dont ever pay more for a designer or brand name unless you know its a quality product, because chances are you are paying just for the name and you end up with a broken or defective product you paid hundreds or thousands for and you look and feel like very big fool.

I notice so many people saying there are no returns...they make it very clear that there are no returns on anything under 200.00. I think you get what you pay for on this channel, I have ordered some things that were just awful. But then I have also received a few beautiful pieces that were over 200. I am on the fence though about continuing to order from this place so that is why I decided to do some research and look up these reviews....One time I ordered a necklace and ring set ...the package came and low and behold - the box was empty! Couldn't believe it. I called to complain and have to say they were anything but helpful. And of course, said they were sold out of the set. They told me to email the president directly so I did and much to my surprise, he sent a reply email apologizing and said they had another in stock of what I ordered. Hmmm.....I received the pieces and they are nice but I am just not sure I will be ordering much more from this place.
