Today's Blue Plate Specials ... Some Jacked Up Magic!

The HSN TS is a Singer "Curvy" Top-of-the-Line Computerized Sewing Machine. I'm no seamstress, in fact, I can barely hem or sew on a button. So I Googled it and found this article that explained that this line was "designed to eliminate two of sewing's key frustrations - threading the sewing machine and threading the bobbin." I will say that in my limited experience using sewing machines that threading was a major pain in the you-know-what, so this sounds good to me!

The QVC TSV is a MagicJack Unlimited Local & Long Distance USB Phone Adaptor--and there is controversy over this one! The Magic Jack company has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau:

Our file contains a pattern of complaints from consumers who allege they were offered a free thirty-day trial period for their product. After accepting the offer consumers’ allege funds were withdrawn from their account before the end of the free thirty-day trial period. Consumers also allege experiencing difficulty in contacting the company and receiving refunds. The company has responded to complaints by issuing a refund however they have failed to eliminate the underlying cause of consumer complaints. We have received a significant number of complaints against this company. In at least some cases, the complaint allegations are serious.

On the other hand, it won the PC Magazine's Editor's Choice Award for January 2008 and has legions of happy users.

There seems to be a real issue with customer service. There is only online chat service (no phone support) and from the transcripts that I read, I'm fairly certain that the representatives are not native English speakers.

Basically, if you are not technically savvy (or know someone who is), this is not for you. If you love your landline, this is also not for you. However, if you are looking for a cheap phone that you can travel with and know your way around a computer, this could be a great solution for you. Another great use is if you have family in another area code, you can get your Magic Jack phone number in their area code so that it's not long distance for them to call you.

VoIP hasn't been perfected yet, but it seems to be the way telecom is going. And it's not like the landlines are always up and running perfectly either! Mr. Queen Bea likes and uses Skype VoIP and works in the telecom industry. I'll have to ask him what he thinks about the Magic Jack when he gets home from work.

The ShopNBC OTV is an Evie 3/4 Sleeve Cotton Sweater / Jacket. This is basically a cotton sweater tailored like a jacket. It's cute, but I wouldn't spend $40 plus shipping for it. Maybe I'm missing something??? I wonder if this was cut to make you instantly look like you just lost 10 pounds like all of Pam "Oh Wes!" McCoy's jackets are? Surely that's some sort of Pam Patented Design.

ShopNBC is having a Sample Sale and there's actually some rockin' deals!
