Nags, Harpies, and Shrews Unite!

Hats off to nagging wives everywhere!!! And, let me tell you, Queen Bea knows a thing or two about both nagging and complaining. Done correctly, it's an art form to be admired.

Apparently, some husbands channel their wives incessant complaining into something really inventive and productive (No, managing to channel surf and guzzle beer at the same time while successfully avoiding taking out the trash do NOT count!)

This is how Bill Clinton got to be President ... Hillary was constantly nagging him!

There will be a new product so great you’ll split your pants … or, rather, your sheets! This is what happens when a frustrated husband likes nice, cool cotton sheets, but his always-cold wife likes the fuzzy, warm flannel kind. David Haggerty took matters into his own hands by cutting the sheets down the middle and sewing a cotton sheet to a flannel sheet.

Hmmm ... Simply a sheet or a marriage counselor? Right now Dave is managing a couple hundred Teamsters at the SuperValu grocery warehouse while he packs up orders at night, but he’s getting his big shot on QVC October 30th. I just love stories like these. It’s not just the best of home shopping, it’s the best of America. Go Dave!

Very interesting story about a mechanical engineer that came up with a material that is not only collapsible, but it can handle heat up to 500 degrees, but doesn't "release toxicity, change color or shrink when they hit high temperatures" Foods tend not to stick to the new material and it won't blow up if you put a hot bakeware straight to the freezer. It's even dishwasher safe. You might wonder why did he take the time to create this amazing bakeware? Well, he was tired of hearing his wife complain about the "inconvenience of ceramic containers."

Fung is holding a contest on the Foldtuk Web site to find the most creative video about how people use their collapsible containers. The top prize winner will receive $500 and the second prize winner will receive $250. Both the first and second place winners will also get full sets of FoldTuk containers. The contest will run until the end of the year.

Better to live on the roof than share the house with a nagging wife. (GNB: Prov 21.9)

Today's Blue Plate Specials ... Anorexic Gold

Did you watch the Gold Rush yesterday? I caught a few minutes here and there--enough to remind myself why the gold shows are not my favorite. Gold ain't cheap. There's just no way around that fact. You can only make the gold so thin and hollow to try to keep the cost down. I'm fairly certain that there are laws of physics involved in this (much to the Q's dismay).

With few exceptions, the pieces were either too expensive or too thin--anorexic gold is not only not attractive, it doesn't last. Looks like unless or until gold prices go down, I'm not going to be buying much.

Was it just me or did Mary Beth's dress look very uncomfortable last night??? And what's with all the new gold colors? Purple? For real? I have nothing against purple, but I for one would not fork over all that money for real gold that looks fake. I'll just bypass that middle man and buy fake!

The QVC TSV is a KathyVan Zeeland Patent Croco Emb. Convertible Organizer Bag. Normally I love Kathy Van Zeeland purses. They're funky, fun , and fresh. But this one just seems like the same old same old. Not particularly impressed with this one. I still love Kathy though!

The Q's doing 3 Easy Pays on all seasonal clearance this week. It's as close to a sale as you're ever gonna get from QVC!

The HSN TS is a 9.5-10.5mm Peacock Cultured Freshwater Pearl 14K 50" Necklace. I love a long strand of pearls. You can wear it long, double it, triple it, twist it, tie knots in it, jump rope with it ... :-)

The ShopNBC OTV is a Two-Pack 600TC Egyptian Cotton Sheet Sets - Solid Set & Jacquard Set. Not one, but two glorious sets of high-thread-count sheets. Trust me, once you sleep in good sheets, you never want to go back. In fact you keep looking for that higher high. If the 400 TC sheets feel this good, I wonder what the 500 TC sheets would feel like? Before you know it you're spending your life savings for some 1200 TC pillow cases and your spouse is trying to get you some rehab treatment.

Today's Blue Plate Specials ... 23" Leash

The HSN TS is an IMAN Global Chic Golden Goddess with Amethyst-Color Dangle 23" Necklace. I like that this is bold and substantial and different. But I don't like the price. $65 just seems pretty ridiculous for fashion jewelry. If it's trendy, it better be cheap too--Queen Bea ain't spending the big bucks on something that will be out of style in six months (or fall apart for that matter).

The ShopNBC OTV is a 23" Austrian Crystal Accent South Sea-Style Simulated White Pearl Necklace. Apparently 23" necklaces are the thing now! Initially, I didn't understand the whole Pearlfection thing. Why buy fake pearls when the real thing has gone down in price so much? But since soooo many people love Pearlfection, I thought I'd give it another look.

While cultured pearls have gotten bigger, rounder, and cheaper, they still aren't perfect. Unless you want to shell out the big bucks, you will have rings, pits, and lopsided pearls--especially in the bigger sizes. So if you want a nice set of big, round, perfect Wilma Flintstone pearls at a decent price, Pearlfection is the way to go.

The QVC TSV is a Northern Nights Beefy Egyptian Cotton Jersey Sheet Set. I love sheets, but I tend to prefer the "crisp" cotton to the jersey cotton just because I like the cool feel. These don't look bad though--elastic all around, deep pockets, cute colors--especially for the price.

Only a few more days until Silver Designer Day ... :-)

Today's Blue Plate Special ... The Blinged-Out Princess and the Pea

HSN has a limited-edition FusionBeauty BlingFusion Birthday Kit as their TS. Not only can you trout your pout, but you can plump your lashes and bronze your face ... you know, the natural look! This line has a bit of a cult following and the reviews are great overall. And you also get a subscription to Self magazine, which you will have trouble reading through your super fat lashes.

Queen Bea is blinded by the bling on that lip plumper wand. That is sooo fierce, y'all!

The ShopNBC OTV is a 14K White or Yellow Gold Diamond Cross or Star of David Pendant w/ Chain from the Van Belinger Collection. Cute, but waaaaay to small. Looks like a good pendant for a little girl. Or I guess if you're the dainty type, which Queen Bea ain't!

They also have $1.99 shipping on clearance jewelry, watches, and apparel, which is practically free!

QVC's TSV is an Amadeus Amelia 600TC Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set 4 Pillowcases. I loooooove high thread-count sheets--Queen Bea has high standards, you know! And I definitely appreciate the extra pillowcases and the deep pocket on the fitted sheet ... Queen Bea has to pile up the feather beds to cradle her royal arse in comfort. I do wish that the king set would come with two standard and two king pillowcases instead of all four being king. Oh well, you can't have everything!

QVC Today's Special Value: More Bed for Your Buck

Northern Nights Guliana Quilted Coverlet Setw/Sheet Set

$129.00 King - Item# H10172
$111.00 Queen - Item# H10171
$96.00 Double - Item# H10170
$84.00 Twin - Item# H10168
No Easy Pays
Your choice of sage, ivory, lavender, pink, or blue

I love that the whole set can be washed and dried without having to haul anything to the dry cleaner (Queen Bea does not take well to hauling much of anything) and the 310 thread count is respectable enough.

I can't pass judgement on the coverlet without feeling it. I love quilts and this one looks nice, but you never really know until you run your hand over it for yourself. If it feels nice to the touch and really launders well, the prices for an entire sheet and coverlet set are pretty good.
