I decided after my grandmother died to just take a break from blogging and the home shopping universe in general. I stopped checking my email, never looked at the blog, and even stopped watching all the home shopping channels (gasp!) It was a sudden and clean break from everything "Queen Bea."
The longer I didn't blog, the harder it was to start back up again. While a part of me missed sitting on my little self-built throne, the weight of the Diamonique-encrusted crown weighed heavy on my head. I was beginning to enjoy the freedom. Even though I started the blog for fun, it was becoming like a second job. Pressure, pressure, pressure ... I was over it.
Slowly, but surely, I started watching a little QVC every now and then. Maybe I even noticed when there was some major vendor musical chairs going on (OMG! Suzanne Somers!) And I might have even raised an eyebrow when I began to see ShopNBC taking some of my rather long-winded advice and start to pull themselves out of that unwatchable and unprofitable rut they were stuck in*. In other words, I was ready to dive back into the murky home shopping waters.
Then my number one job--MOM--took precedence over everything. My son was having problems at school. I won't go into the details since he is due his privacy, but the end result was that I decided to pull him out of public schools and homeschool him. I went from working full-time and being a full-time mom, to working part-time, being a full-time mom, and being a full-time teacher. My time on the Internet was spent researching various curricula and putting lesson plans together, not digging up the latest dirt on home shopping hair extension vendors.
Recently, my son and I have settled into a good routine with school and I actually find myself having the energy and time to check on my poor little ol' neglected home shopping stepchild of a blog. Poor thing!

Right now I'm working on sorting through the *gulp* thousands of emails in my inbox and deleting all the nasty comments and spam that are now littering up the place. So, please, if you emailed me and never received a reply, accept my apology. My intent was not to ignore or be mean to you.
I haven't made any decisions about what I'll do after I've cleaned up the blog, but hopefully I'll be able to find time to at least post occasionally.
BTW, since I am TOTALLY out of the loop, I want to hear some good home shopping gossip, y'all! Post a comment, email me ... just let me know what's going on these days. I've got to catch up on everything!

*ETA: This does NOT excuse them getting rid of Charla. That is NOT cool!
So good to have you back!! Take care. Greetz from the other side of the ocean. Ingo.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with above from this anonymous Q vendor! Lots of changes afoot over at SNBC as well. Many former Q folks are going up there. Could be interesting in a short future....
ReplyDeleteAs said before, its good to have you back, QB.
ReplyDeleteBlogging can take over your life, and its true- you do get this sense of responsibility to keep it current....and when you take time off (or slow down for a period of time) it becomes liberating.
Something similar to that happened to be at the end of 2008 and early 09...various personal things had me all but closing down for most of January 2009 (three posts).
Looking forward to future posts, you've been missed.
I'm just glad you're back! There have been a lot of changes since you've been gone...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you find next!
OMG!! QueenBee you have been missed so much...I just happened to check today to see if there had been any chance you had made a comeback and what a surprise to see your blog dated March 24!!!
ReplyDeleteI prayed that all was well with you, that you and your family were doing okay and it sounds like alot of our prayers were answered :) Praise God for his Love :)
Gee I don't know where to start with the hosts on the Q, but let me tell you, that big mouth Patti Reilly is worse than ever!!
She is soooo conceited, never stops talking and interrupting over the vendors and is making a complete fool of herself on air...
She is totally dis-liked by many of us viewers and when any of us try and and post anything about her on the Q boards the post are deleted!
Thank God for sites like TWoP and yours now that you are back...we want her out of the Q so bad, it's awful to have to miss a show because she is the host...
I just can't watch a program and learn anything when she is the host!
QueenBee, I won't mind if you only blog once or twice a month, as long as I know you are doing well and we will hear from you again...
Take care.....
GOOD GRIEF! I can not believe there is another Queen! Nice to meet you, I am(or was, all because of blogging!) the QVC QUEEN. I'm Sue, Hugh's friend from New Jersey. I have sorely missed shopping on the Q because I can't leave my computer chair and my blog long enough to view TV. Oh yes I have done the on-line shopping but actually this blog has saved me tons of money in the past couple years. Thehusband is grateful...
ReplyDeleteCome by and say hi if you are into political blogs (and if you are a liberal, if not don't be shocked by what you read! lol)
Take care, Sue
You did your own Bob Bowersox exist, but it's nice to have you back.
ReplyDeleteall right enough already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise QB..I have been checking in every other week or so to see if you were back.
ReplyDeleteI agree, letting Charla go was NOT COOL at all!
Nice to have you back at the helm QB. Sorry you have to do clean-up on the blog posts. All I can say is you were missed.
Now give us the dirt!
OMG, I HAVE BEEN MISSING YOU AND WORRIED ABOUT YOU!! I'm so happy to see you back. MWAH!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back QB, and good on you for homeschooling, that's quite an undertaking!
ReplyDeleteAs for home shopping, is it my imagination or is Gemstv gaining some traction? British Ford was one of their hosts recently. In my area of the NE they're gained a lot of more air time (apparently picking up the time of the short lived Black Home Shopping).
Best
Allison
Welcome back, Queen Bea. I have missed you!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! You were missed!!!

ReplyDeleteThe Black Home Shopping site sells "Diamondz". Wonder if they are the same as Absolute or Diamonique!
Welcome back, Queen Bea -- missed you!
ReplyDeleteThank you all very much! :-)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I'm so happy to see you posting again. I missed you! Can't wait to read your take on all the doings, especially the Suzanne switcheroo! She said to a caller on SNBC she left because HSN wouldn't let her develop a line of supplements, but I suspect it all started with The Affair of the Necklace.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you again! Q.C.
Welcome back! So happy to see you've not abdicated! You were greatly missed!
ReplyDeleteQ.C.
Sorry, thought my first post hadn't gone through. I'm a little rusty here! Q,C.
ReplyDeleteQC! Good to see ya!
ReplyDeleteThere is no way that SS would be able to sell supplements on HSN. Did she see what happened to Sensa?
Very happy to see you back, I hope your heart has begun to mend and life will get easier for you in the months, and years ahead.
ReplyDeleteNow with that said, I think its amusing I see a pic of Judy taking questions and there is Jeff Hewson.. Now Ms. Queen, you know there are questions out there from those dying to know "who, what, where and why with these two".
People can say what they wish, but I don't believe for one minute the story Levine published in her book.(which I'm sure made her money just for that one reason, her take on what happened with these two) Jeff was dating a woman at the time Judy called him over to put her BBQ grill together, ahhh I remember the story very well. So for those who tried to make him out to be anything other than a "ladies man", think again.
Andrew Lessman is a spoiled grown child, he's a lawyer, and we all know 90 percent of their education is "know how to toss the bs", its standard procedure. He wants to be the number 1 in the world with his products and I have to tell you, when he was on the Q and I did order them, all I got was heartburn.
I can't keep up with what host is going where these days, so I no longer find it a surprise when I see Kim here, Judy there.
With the economy today, I don't think many will see the sales they once had.
Again, I'm very happy to see you back, been too long.
